Improv Workshop: Any Instrument/Any Style
Saturday, April 29th at 5:30 PM
Guest Instructor: Dan Kennedy (bio below)
This will be a hands-on class where each student – on any instrument -- comes prepared with a piece, and each piece will contain a section where the student can improvise. Dan Kennedy will listen thoughtfully to each student, and not only suggest other techniques, but encourage the student to improve, kindly, and with very specific suggestions. Any style is on the table – Classical, Jazz, Rock, Country. Everyone loves improvisation, but some teachers don’t have time; after the chords, scales, arpeggios, music theory, technique, and repertoire, they simply don’t have time to add it into the lesson. That’s where I might come in. I have been a music teacher for 24 years. Every student is accepted where she/he is, and they do not need to be at any certain level. Every student will have a chance to try an improvisation or two on their instrument.
