Internships at The Perfect 5th

The Perfect 5th Musical Arts Center in Mechanicsburg, PA has summer and fall internships available for 2013. The student will assist the directors in all aspects of operating a music school, including:

• Marketing
• Promotion
• Publicity
• Scheduling
• Research
• Outreach
• Event planning
• Database operations
• Set-up and tear-down
• Client interaction
• Front desk duties

Specifically, some of the duties may include the following: create flyers and work social media; assist with traditional, viral and guerilla marketing; write press releases, teacher bios, web content and blogs; research; inventory and accounting; help to maintain a consistent image across all web outlets (using the control package from Stickable Media and consulting w/ Tony Diehl); help to develop new programs and music camps; etc.

The interaction with students, parents and teachers alone is a valuable experience. We also make an effort to include our interns in meetings and to introduce them to others in the music business.

Depending on the student's interest, other opportunities may be explored through our relationships with PAMusicScene.com (writing reviews) and Susquehanna Entertainment (helping to promote the current release, Old Words, New Chapters by The Lone Wolf Project).

The Perfect 5th Musical Arts Center offers traditional music lessons, instrumental and vocal, from qualified instructors for every skill level. We have a number of group classes and will be offering many new programs starting in January. Director Eric Wirsing is an accomplished musician who studied at Berklee College of Music and has been teaching guitar & bass for the last 10 years. Associate Director Terry Selders has a BA in Music Merchandising from Mansfield University and has worked as a manager and promoter for the last 25 years.
