Kayla Keating's Summary

Kayla Keating is a professional clarinetist and saxophonist who graduated Kutztown University in May 2011 with a Bachelor's of Science in Music Education. She studied clarinet with Charles Tobias and Elisabeth Stimpert. Kayla grew up in Whippany, NJ and went to Whippany Park High School. She plans to continue and pursue graduate studies in music as well.

Kayla has performed in Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, Chamber Ensembles, Jazz Orchestras, Choirs, Pit Orchestras for musicals, and many solo pieces. Some of the recent shows Kayla has played in are: Chicago, The Music Man, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Hairspray, and West Side Story. Kayla plays with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra, various Dickinson College Ensembles,and has played with the Central Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra. She also manages her own ensemble; The Keating Jazz Orchestra.

Kayla substitute teaches at the Cumberland Valley School District and has worked several high school marching bands. She has been teaching private and group lessons since 2008/2009 in Clarinet, Saxophone, and Piano.Some of her students have auditioned and been selected for the PMEA district and regional ensembles.

She works at the Luhrs Performing Arts Center, is the Front Ensemble Instructor for Phoenix Indoor Percussion, and is the Assistant Saxophone Section Leader for the NFL Ravens Marching Band.
