Derek Euston's Summary

Derek has been playing guitar for 18 years, on stages and in the studio. He earned a Bachelor of Music concentrated in music recording technology from Lebanon Valley College, also studying guitar and playing trumpet in the symphony orchestra. An internship at Indre Studios in Philadelphia gave Derek the opportunity to assist live recording sessions for groups such as Goo Goo Dolls, Hoobastank, and Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains) and learn the ropes working in a large commercial recording facility.

After graduating from LVC, Derek settled in Harrisburg and began engineering at the Green Room Studio, becoming the owner within about a year and a half. While working to grow the studio business, he also stayed active as a performer. Touring as a guitarist for Adam Kowalczyk and bassist for The Underwater, Derek traveled all over the U.S. and parts of Europe, supporting acts like Daughtry, Fuel, and Blind Melon.

Derek's teaching style places a strong emphasis on music theory and ear training, giving the student a solid foundation for exploring different genres and the confidence to try other instruments. He integrates songs by the student's favorite artists to highlight examples of lesson material, which keeps the learning process fresh and entertaining.

Derek continues to work full time producing, engineering, writing, arranging, and doing session work on guitar and bass at the Green Room.
