Terry Selders's Summary

Terry's career as an artist manager and independent record label owner began with The Badlees, a band he managed throughout the 1990's. After releasing several full-length CDs on his own Rite-Off Records, the group was signed to Polydor/A&M Records. They toured the country and performed with a number of major artists, including Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, Bob Seger, Patty Griffin, The Allman Bros., and many more. Prior to managing The Badlees, Mr. Selders worked in New York City as a studio manager. That eventually led to a job with an indie label called Bassment Records (no longer in business) where he did just about everything, including record promotion and tour management. It was the perfect education for a future manager.

Susquehanna Entertainment is Terry's latest venture. Since 2004, several albums have been released including the Central-PA Christmas Compilation and three recordings by the Wilkes-Barre hard rock group Pan.a.ce.a who he also managed. Under his leadership, the band grew in every area of the business - live shows, online activity, merch sales, terrestrial radio play, etc. This combined with substantial airplay on Sirius/XM and Pandora led to an increase in downloads. For three months in early 2011, Pan.a.ce.a was in the top-10 of digital sales for their distributor. (Susquehanna Entertainment is distributed exclusively by Burnside Distribution Corporation which handles about 700 labels.)

With the recent break-up of Pan.a.ce.a, Terry is looking forward to teaching and mentoring young musicians and managers while searching for his next management clients. Terry also freelances with Hal Leonard and Cherry Lane Music Publishing Companies, and has written for Guitar Edge Magazine.

This is an interesting time for the music business. While most long-established entities are struggling and overall music sales are down, there are new and exciting opportunities for musicians, managers and indie labels that have great music, a good work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit.
