Kayla Keating's Summary

Kayla Keating is a professional clarinetist and saxophonist who graduated Kutztown University in May 2011 with a Bachelor's of Science in Music Education. She studied clarinet with Mr. Charles Tobias and Dr. Elisabeth Stimpert. Kayla grew up in Whippany, NJ and went to Whippany Park High School. She plans to continue and pursue graduate studies in music as well.

Kayla has performed in Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, Chamber Ensembles, Jazz Orchestras, Choirs, and Pit Orchestras for musicals. Some of the recent shows Kayla has played in are: Chicago, The Music Man, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to The Forum, Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast, Anything Goes, Sideshow, Company, Sweet Charity, and West Side Story. Kayla plays with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra, the Hanover Symphony Orchestra, various Dickinson College Ensembles, and has played with both the Pennsylvania Philharmonic, and the Central Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra. She also manages her own ensembles; The Keating Jazz Orchestra and KJO’s Two-beat Dames.

Kayla substitute teaches at the Cumberland Valley School District and York Suburban School District. She has also worked with several high school marching bands. Kayla has been teaching private and group lessons since 2008/2009 in Clarinet, Saxophone, and Piano. Some of her students have auditioned and been selected for the PMEA District and Regional ensembles.

Kayla also holds positions at the Luhrs Performing Arts Center, and is the Front Ensemble Instructor for Phoenix Indoor Percussion. For the 2017-2018 season, Kayla is a Drum Major for the NFL Ravens Marching Band.
