Shami Beni's Summary

Shami Beni first picked up the alto saxophone at age twelve while in the seventh grade. Shami grew up and attended high school in Philadelphia, PA for two years before moving to Enola, PA to finish high school. While just going through the motions when first learning, it became clear that he was passionate about mastering the instrument

In the ensuing years, Shami has performed in ensembles such as the Philadelphia's high school all city band, orchestra and jazz band. He was also part of select PMEA festivals and part of Ronnie Walter’s CPFJ Youth Jazz Band

Shami is a graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a degrees in Music Education and Jazz Studies. Shami studied under the tutelage of Tom Strohman and Tim Wolfe. He also had the opportunity to work with notable musicians like, Dick Oatts, Terell Stafford, Mark Ferber, Steve Rudolph, Ronnie Walters, Kirk Reese, Benny Golson, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, Mike Titlebaum, and Steve Muak.

Shami is currently the General Music Teacher and Jazz Band Director at Meade Middle School located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Shami's goal is teach within the public schools and invest in his students as teachers have invested in him. He also hopes to expand his musicality by collaborating with artists of different genres and cultural backgrounds
